Locations Above the Clouds

The Paro-Delhi flight is a delight on an excellent day and this was a type of days when it was pure magic. Out of my airplane window, the peaks of the Himalaya have been in clear view. I used to be so excited, taking photograph after photograph of the mountains, regardless that I’ve seen them innumerable occasions. Only a few others on the flight confirmed a lot curiosity, besides when Everest was talked about, but this was most likely most passengers’ first view of those peaks. Solely a pair Indian children confirmed curiosity, “Papa, snow mountains!” “Sure, beta, they’re simply mountains, let me sleep.”

First got here Kanchenjunga at 28,162′:

Second, from east to west, was Makalu (27,762′):

Then Everest (29,029′) and simply to its proper, Lhotse (27,940′):

Fourth was the massif of Cho Oyu (26,906′), left, and Gyachung Kang (26,089′) on the best:

Fifth was Shishapangma (26,286′):

Then the triple peaks of Manaslu. Manaslu (26,759′) is on the left and Baudha is on the best:

Then got here the Annapurnas. To the intense left is Annapurna 1 at 26,545′. Can you notice Machapuchare (22,943′) on the far proper?

The final of the large massifs was Dhaulagiri. Right here is Dhaulagiri 1 at 26,795′:

I hope to at all times have the surprise of a kid.
